NetRiders: Greater China and Mongolia

Overview

Cisco Networking Academy NetRiders IT skills competitions are a great opportunity for students and alumni in Greater China and Mongolia to showcase their networking abilities, learn valuable new IT skills, and gain visibility among talent recruiters in the growing ICT and networking field.

Registration is open 5 April through 12 May 2017

Register on this page - but please login first to view the 2017 CCNA, CCENT, IT Essentials and Practice Site competition links.

We will be running 3 levels of competition. At all three levels, the majority of the questions deal with technical skills but there will be some questions about Internet of Things (IoT) and career skills.

  • CCNA - geared toward CCNA certifications and open to students currently enrolled in or recently completed the 3rd or 4th CCNA course
  • CCENT - geared toward CCENT certifications and open to students currently enrolled in or recently completed the 1st or 2nd CCNA course
  • IT Essentials - geared toward the IT Essentials course and open to students currently enrolled in or recently completed the IT Essentials course

Competitors self-select the one or two competitions they choose to participate in based on eligibility requirements. They must meet all eligibility requirements for the level or levels they select. If they do not meet eligibility, they will be disqualified. See more on eligibility at the bottom of this page.

This region is for Cisco Networking Academy students who are taking or have recently completed a CCNA or IT Essentials course as a Cisco Networking Academy in one of the following countries. For China, only the CCENT and IT Essentials competitions are available. CCNA competitors should join the China Collegiate Computing Contest 2017 Network Technology Challenge which has its own website for registration.

  • China - CCENT and IT Essentials only
  • Hong Kong - All Levels CCNA, CCENT and IT Essentials
  • Macau - All levels CCNA, CCENT and IT Essentials
  • Mongolia - All levels CCNA, CCENT and IT Essentials
  • Taiwan - All levels CCNA, CCENT and IT Essentials

If you do not see your country in the list above, you may need to check a different region or your country may not be participating in NetRiders this year.

Eligibility Information

For all the eligibility requirements and rules of an individual competition, please download the Rules PDF and FAQ files for the competition you are interested in. A few things to note about competition eligibility:

  • Students must be currently or recently enrolled in a Cisco Networking Academy CCNA Routing and Switching, CCNA Discovery, CCNA Exploration or IT Essentials course in a country in Greater China or Mongolia
  • Students represent the Cisco Networking Academy and therefore the country where they are currently enrolled or most recently completed a CCNA or IT Essentials course
  • Students must live in a country in Greater China or Mongolia
  • Students may not compete in both CCNA and CCENT competitions in a calendar year
  • Students may only compete in CCNA and CCENT two times and in IT Essentials one time, so we recommend students are strategic in selecting the best year to compete in each level of competition based on courses enrolled in or recently completed and all other eligibility rules
  • Students in China do not compete in CCNA NetRiders Rounds 1 and 2 in 2017 but 10 top achievers in the China Collegiate Computing Contest 2017 Network Technology Challenge will be invited to compete in Round 3 with the top achievers from Hong Kong, Macau, Mongolia and Taiwan

It is the responsibility of the competitor to read and comply with all eligibility rules for the competition they decide to compete in this year. Failure to meet all eligibility requirements is cause for disqualification. We do the most extensive validation after Round One is complete which means that a student who enrolls in the wrong competition will not get the opportunity to try that competition again. Please carefully read the Rules and FAQs for the competitions to determine which is the best to enroll in this year.

Prizes

Prizes are awarded at the end of Round Two for CCENT and IT Essentials and at the end of Round Three for CCNA. Please see the Rules for each competition for more information on the prizes.
